Occasionally, you will need to initiate a Return for an item that has not shipped from a Shipedge warehouse (usually due to drop-shipping).
In order to do this, you will need to create a Dropship Return. This lesson will teach you how.
First, You’ll Need to Head to the Returns Tab
To do this, click on the “Returns” tab (1) and then on the link that says “Dropship Return” (2).
Since the Order Didn’t Originate from Shipedge, We’ll Need to Enter the Information Into the System.
We’ll do that in this step.
The fields marked with red stars are mandatory, but the more information you give Shipedge, the easier it will be for the warehouse to find your return and process it correctly.
Once you’ve entered all the necessary information, click on the “Add SKU” button on the bottom.
That Will Bring You to a Screen Like This One
If the SKU you need to return already exists in Shipedge, all you need to enter is the quantity the warehouse should expect (1) and its condition (2 & 3).
If the SKU isn’t one that already exists in Shipedge, you can create it by clicking the “Create SKU” button (4).
When you click on the “Good” or “Bad” button for a SKU, a line will appear like this one:
THE “EditQuantity” LINK SHOULD READ “Edit Quantity” (two words); “Sku” SHOULD BE IN ALL CAPS
Here you’ll be able to edit the quantity of the item you’ve inserted (1) or delete the item (2) if needed.
Keep adding items as necessary, and when you’re ready, click on the “Continue” button.
The Next Screen is Large, So We’ll Show It to You in Two Parts. Here’s the Top:
This is the validation part of the returns process. Double-check all the information you have given us to ensure that the warehouse will be able to process your return correctly.
And Here’s the Bottom:
If you have any comments for the warehouse, enter them in the text box (1).
If you’d like to generate a pre-paid return label for your customer, estimate the weight of the package (2).
Then click on the checkbox (3).
This Will Cause a Pop-Up Window to Appear.
Confirm that you’ve entered the correct weight for the package, and then click the “OK” button.
If you’ve reached this screen accidentally, just press the Escape key on your keyboard.
That Brings Us Back to the Return Details Screen
Finally, you’ll need to select the type of return you’d like to make: Simple (1), Exchange on Received (2), or Exchange Now (3).
Simple Returns are those where your customer gets their money back once the warehouse receives the item.
Exchange on Received indicates that the warehouse will send another of whatever SKU they receive from your customer.
Exchange Now initiates an order for the warehouse to send out another of this SKU right now, without waiting for the return to arrive.
When you click on option (1), (2), or (3), you’ll be brought back to the main Returns screen. Or you can edit (4) or cancel and delete the return (5), if necessary.
