The best rate system in Xenvio is used to automatically find the lowest cost between similar shipping methods offered by different carriers to the same location.
1) Setup the Best Rate code in Shipedge
A best rate code must first be setup in the shipping table in Shipedge WMS. Shipedge must add this here. This is only visible to the customer through the “Prices” account so that they may configure the global markup column.
In this example BR1 is to be used to find the best rate between FedEx standard overnight and UPS Next-Day.
2) Setup Best Rate in Xenvio
Xenvio handles how the best rates actually functions. Similar to setting up a shipping method, the best rate in Xenvio must use the same name as the code that is configured in the Shipedge shipping table.
Go to the Best rate tab in Xenvio, select the warehouse for which the Best Rate will be configured. If there is more than one warehouse either select which one the best rate will be used for, or configure it for all warehouses for which it will be used. In this case a best rate for XYZ2 will be configured.
Once on the Best rate tab and the correct warehouse click “add new best rate”.
The “New Best Rate” panel will come up. Enter the name of the best rate. This must be the same name as the Best rate in the Shipedge Shipping Table.
3) Add description
Enter a description of the Best Rate
4) Add shipping methods
The Actions button is on the right hand side of the view. Click the actions button and select Manage shipping Codes.
The search box will search all of the available shipping methods that have been configured on Xenvio for the warehouse the best rate is created on. Enter a partial search related to the first shipping method code required. In this case UPS. Find the Shipping Method in the list and click “Add” on the right side of the table.
Once a shipping method has been added it becomes visible at the top of the editing page for shipping methods in BR1. This includes a link on the right side of the page to remove the shipping method if it needs to changed. All shipping methods currently in the best rate are visible as soon as they are chosen.
After the best rate has been configured the description and the shipping codes attached to it are visible in the best rate tab.
Best rates work well for equivalent shipping methods, such as UPS Next Day and FedEx Standard overnight. This would not be a good choice for dissimilar services including different package types. Adding a shipping method for a flat rate envelope might not be a good idea unless the best rate is only used for product that would always fit in a flat rate envelope. In that case it would be better to compare rates specifically for flat rate envelops across different carriers.
